We would be learning how to make different pepper soup using fish, pepper soup such as fish pepper soup, dry fish pepper soup, fresh fish pepper soup and seafood pepper soup. 


As we all know pepper soup is a soup originated from the west Africa Nigeria, it's a soup prepared with more pepper in it as the name tells it, it's prepared using different spices and it's always a bit light in texture.


It's prepared using various meats or fish(sea foods) but basically today we would be looking only at the fish aspect.

Recipe

1 big fish or iced fish

2 litres of clean water

1 tablespoon spoon vegetable oil(optional)

1tablespoon grounded crayfish

Dried pepper

2 big onions

Mint leaves (uziza, efirin, nuchanwu)

1 cube maggi

Fermented locust beans seed


Method to prepare fish pepper soup

Wash all the ingredients very well and set then aside in a hygienic colanders or neat bowl,

Allow the water boil, then lower the heat,

Add the pepper, remember add pepper to your satisfaction,

Add the grounded crayfish,

Chop your 2 big onions and add it 

Add salt to taste

Allow it simmer for about 10 minutes before adding the fermented locust bean seed,

Pour chunks of fish inside and also add your neat washed fish or iced fish and cook until tender,

Add the mint leaves for that special aroma,

Put off the heat after about three minutes and serve hot with pounded yam or roasted green plaltain,

Or better still enjoy like that.

Then your delicious fish pepper soup is read for consumption.

NB: it's best you consume when it's hot.

Fresh or dry pepper

Basilleaf efirin

Vegetable oil

Uziza

Uda

Garlic

Maggie

Salt(optional)

Ginger

3 big dry fish

Onion

Salt

Maggie

Grounded crayfish

Water 

Yam


Method to prepare dry fish pepper soup

Wash the dry fish with warm water,

Get rid of the bones and grit,

Wash again before putting it in a clean pot and add water and lit the fire

Add sliced onions 

Add garlic,

Add salt,

Leave to simmer a while and add grounded cray fish,

Add pepper soup ingredients(uziza , uda),

Add some drop of vegetable oil,

When you start perceiving the aroma of uda or the pepper soup spice,

Cut some pieces of yam into the pot of pepper soup (optional),

Add some seasoning (Maggie) and salt if need be,

When the yam is done you can bring it down.

Then your delicious dry fish pepper soup is ready.

NB: it is better if you consume it while the pepper soup is hot because it brings the delicious and peppery taste out that more.

wash the fish very well cut of the head if desired season the fish with onion,maggi,and salt,

Pound the crayfish, fresh pepper and the native spices,

Put water in a pot and place on the fire,

Add all the pounded ingredients and leave to boil very well,

Add the fish and allow to simmer for about 15 minutes,

Then add the efirin, 

Add maggi,

Add little salt,

Leave to cook,

Serve as appetizer,

Then you're delicious fresh fish pepper soup is ready.

NB: it best consumed when it's hot, so eat when it's hot so you can enjoy the full taste of the fresh fish pepper soup.

Fresh fish 1 medium size

Fresh prawn 10 medium size

Grounded cray fish 2 tablespoons

Grounded pepper to your taste

Maggie 2 cubes

African nut meg 1 teaspoon

Efirin 

Nchanwu 12 leaves

Water 1 litre

Salt to taste


Method to prepare seafood pepper soup

Clean the fish and prawn, season and steam for 5 minutes,

Pour little your 1 litre of water and leave for maximum of 10 minutes for it to simmer well,

Add crayfish and African nutmeg and cook for 10 minutes,

Wash well and shred the efirin leaves,

Add the efirin,

Add the nchanwu,

Add maggi,

Add pepper to the boiling sauce,

Stir and simmer for about 5 minutes,

Add salt to taste,

Then simmer again for about 10 minutes,

Remove from heat and serve hot.

Then your peppery and delicious fresh fish pepper soup is ready.

You may serve with agidi, boiled yam or unripe plantain, the choice is yours so choose the one you would like to enjoy with the pepper soup.

NB: it's best you consume the pepper soup while it's hot to avoid regurgitation.
